Design Director - Truss - Oklahoma
The Business:
Our client, a $500m+ independent building materials dealer, serves single-family builders and multi-family general contractors in the Midwest. They are rapidly expanding their $50m truss manufacturing division. Currently, they are in search of a Design Director to spearhead this division across multiple locations. Ensuring they secure the right candidate is crucial for the organization's continued aggressive growth and success.
The Opportunity:
As the Design Director, your primary responsibilities will entail overseeing the day-to-day operations of the design and estimating department, creating design standards, implementing quality control best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will lead a team of over 20 individuals across various locations, offering you autonomy to directly impact the growth and direction of the organization. This role may involve up to 10% travel initially, with the potential for future role expansion and responsibility opportunities.
What You Need for Success:
Knowledge of industry standards, truss design requirements, and familiarity with building codes and loading conditions relevant to truss design.
Proficiency in roof and floor truss design software. MiTek experience preferred.
Effective communication skills for coordinating with the sales department and providing customer support.
History of success in training and developing designers.
Ability to optimize designs for efficient resource utilization.
